Mondays can feel heavy, anxious, tiring, and oddly unmotivating, and if today feels like that for you, you’re not alone.

Living in Ibadan, I’ve learned that Mondays come with their own rhythm: early traffic around Bodija–UI Road and Toll-Gate, bus conductors already shouting by 6 a.m., and Micra drivers moving like the week personally offended them. 😅

I used to dread Mondays, but I’ve noticed something important, the energy I start the day (and week) with often determines how the rest of it unfolds. When I wake up already defeated, the week follows that script. When I choose intention, even small wins feel possible.

If you’re starting this week in Ibadan, here are a few practical reminders that help:
 • Plan around traffic hotspots like Dugbe, Challenge, and Mokola on Monday mornings. Leaving just 20–30 minutes earlier can save your mood.
 • Lower your expectations, not your standards. You don’t have to fix your entire life today, just show up.
 • Choose your battles on the road. Micra drivers will be Micra drivers. Protect your peace. Sometimes it really is aura for aura, sometimes it’s silence for sanity.
 • Anchor your morning with something small but grounding, music, a short prayer, or even a quiet moment before stepping out.

This is your reminder that it’s okay to start slow. It’s okay to feel tired. But it’s also okay to expect good things from this week.

Have a great Monday, and if you’re navigating Ibadan today; may the roads be kind and your patience stronger than the traffic.
