There is something I never get tired of: admiring nature!

While leading a comfortable life in the city is really appealing, I feel like not living close to nature is a very big disadvantage. Or let me put it this way: living in big cities is nice, but living somewhere you can be close to nature, feel it, love it and live it sounds wonderful to me.

I can go on and on about the benefits of living close to nature, but for today, I just want to admire birds.

Funny thing is, I do not really know much about birds and, unless a species is very popular, I really cannot differentiate between the different kinds of birds. However, I still love watching and admiring them. I love how free they are, how beautiful they look and how creative they can be.

Birds are the best metaphor for freedom and innocence. They just need to spread their wings and fly to different parts of the earth without needing help from anyone or even a map. The way they know when to migrate is so smart, and even knowing where to go is wonderful.

How about how they build their nests and homes? Wulala, so creative but troublesome. 😂 They use the right materials and create the best designs suitable for them.

And through YouTube videos, I have come to see that birds can also become a friend, not just a pet. I have watched videos where a human allows them to be free and move around instead of keeping them caged, and these birds come back once in a while to “visit” their human.

I have also read that crows remember humans, so if you have been good to them, they will also be good to you. But if not, well, prepare for their revenge because they even share the love and hatred with their families. Fascinating, right?! I know.

Birds, though, have taught me a few things.

For starters, nobody will come to save you, G. Because tell me why, after a while, the parent bird teaches the kids how to fend for themselves and move on with life? If anyone will save you, why would they need to?

So equip yourself with as many life skills as possible because you will need them as you live your life, and you will also be able to help those around you.

Another thing is: do not wait until your life is perfect before you start living your best life as much as possible in the moment.

I have always, always thought I should wait until I have everything I need before I can truly live and be happy. But birds do not do that. They go out to find the best materials around them to build their new home, find the best place to build it, and use what they have to the fullest.

They do not wait for the perfect life to come running by. They go searching for it.

And the funny part is, they would not know if something is good enough if they just look at it from afar. They go for it and use it in the best way possible.

Birds also teach us that even the small creatures can be full of life and bring so much joy. So stop for a while and look around you. Admire the creations around you. Notice the people around you and appreciate how every creature adds beauty to the earth we live in.

The next time you see a bird pass by you, do not just look away. Ask yourself: where will this bird have built its nest? And is there a chance that, another day, you will see a bird and it will be the same one?

Maybe you will never know.

And maybe that is part of the beauty of simply being able to watch them.
