Living in Agric, Ikorodu, I’ve realized one thing  almost everybody is inside one ajo or the other. Some people are even managing two or three at the same time. It sounds small until the deductions start hitting back-to-back.

In Agric, ajo isn’t just savings, it’s a lifestyle. One is for rent, one is for December, another is for business or school fees. Before you know it, every week or month, money is leaving your hand. If you’re not careful, you’ll be contributing everywhere but struggling daily.

What has helped me is simple: I don’t join any ajo without a clear purpose. If I can’t explain what that particular ajo is solving, I don’t enter. I also space them properly  mixing weekly and monthly contributions so everything doesn’t fall due at once.

Another thing is being honest about cash flow. Agric life isn’t cheap anymore  food, transport, light bills  everything adds up. So before committing to any ajo, I calculate what remains after rent and essentials. If the balance is too tight, I adjust.
