On my way to Abuja, I made a quick detour to see the Confluence in Lokoja — where the Niger and Benue rivers meet. I wasn't expecting much, just a photo stop, but the view completely caught me off guard. Watching the two rivers merge, with their different colors visible for a stretch before blending, was honestly one of the most beautiful natural sights I've seen in Nigeria.
If you're ever passing through Kogi State on a road trip, it's worth the short detour. Standing there, you get a real sense of the history too — Lokoja was Nigeria's first colonial capital, and the confluence itself is tied to that story.
Would recommend to anyone driving the Lokoja–Abuja route to make the stop.
