During my days as a serving corper, I was posted to a farming village in Cross Rivers state. It was an experience I won't forget in this lifetime. Life was fun over there but also stressful. There was no stable electricity, no running water (not even well water) - if you need clean water, you must walk a long distance and pass through a dirty stream before you get to the spring water spot, and the roads leading to the village from the town was so bad that you'll have to think twice each time you need to go to town to get something.
However, serving in this village wasn't without benefits. As a friendly person, I enjoyed free bike rides, fruits especially pineapples and bunches of bananas, and a cordial relationship with the leaders in the village. I can bet it with you that my experience in that village is one I won't ever trade for anything. Indeed, I was resistant to the idea of living in that village for a year and only saw the negative aspects. However, I grew to love that place and it became home.
My advice to you is that no matter where you find yourself, always project an open mind and be ready to accept changes. Life won't always go according to plan but If you allow things be, you might end up with a better result than you expected. Let God lead!
