When I received my posting letter for the National Youth Service Corps and saw that I was going to serve in Lagos, I was extremely happy. Lagos had always been one of the places I wanted to experience, so it felt exciting knowing that my service year would take me there.

My journey started from the orientation camp at Iseyin NYSC Orientation Camp. From there, I made my way to Lagos, not fully knowing what to expect but ready for the adventure ahead. At first, I stayed in a family house while trying to settle down. Later, I reached out to the company where I was posted, and luckily, they provided accommodation for me. That was when I finally moved in and properly began my working life as a corper.

One of the first realities I experienced in Lagos was traffic. Honestly, facing Lagos traffic almost every day can be exhausting. Sometimes you leave early and still meet a long line of cars. At first, it was stressful, but I quickly realized that in Lagos, you just have to buckle up and adapt.

Another thing I noticed that was quite funny and different from where I come from is how people react to certain situations. For example, if people are beating someone on the road, most people simply pass by and mind their business. Where I come from, people would definitely gather, ask questions, and try to intervene. In Lagos, everyone just keeps moving. It shocked me at first.

Life in Lagos is always fast-paced. The roads are constantly busy with cars, people moving up and down, and businesses running everywhere. There is always activity. But one thing I truly like about Lagos is the motivation it gives you. The environment pushes you to work hard or start something for yourself. Nobody is really watching you because everyone is focused on their own hustle.

Living in Lagos as a corper has shown me a different side of life, a city full of movement, opportunity, and constant energy. It may be stressful sometimes, but it is also a place that inspires you to grow and chase your goals.
