That filter is about volume, not your intelligence or future potential.

So instead of getting stuck refreshing GT portals, do this 👇🏽

1. Expand what you apply for

Look beyond “Graduate Trainee.”

Search for:

•Entry-level roles

•Junior roles

•Internships

•Contract or NYSC placements

Many companies hire this way and don’t even run GT programs.

2. Use NYSC wisely

Your NYSC year can become your “experience year.” Get a PPA where you will actually work, learn, and build stories you can defend in interviews.

3. Build skills employers pay for

CGPA won’t save you in an interview. Skills will. Learn tools relevant to your field, volunteer, take short courses, build projects, something tangible.

4. Network like your life depends on it (because it does). Referrals bypass many filters. Talk to people. Ask questions. Show interest. Stay visible.

Many professionals who are doing very well today did not start with Graduate Trainee roles.

Your first job is not your final destination.

What matters is how you position yourself from here.
