When I first moved to VI and had to join video meetings and online classes, I quickly realized not all internet connections are equal some dropped at the worst moments. After trying a few, these are the ones that consistently worked for me:
Spectranet (Fixed Wireless / LTE)
This was my main connection at home.
It stayed stable during Zoom/Teams calls, even when bandwidth was under pressure.
I didn’t get too many disconnects mid-meeting.
Setup was straightforward, and the customer support helped when I needed to adjust my plan.
For me, spectranet became the go-to for long meetings and downloads.
Smile 4G / 4G LTE
I used Smile as a secondary or portable option.
The signal around VI was solid, and data didn’t die out suddenly.
On days when my main line slowed during peak hours, Smile kept meetings going.
Sometimes I tethered it to my laptop and didn’t notice much lag.
It wasn’t perfect all the time, but it was very reliable as a backup.
MTN / Airtel (Mobile Data)
I kept MTN and Airtel 4G as quick backups in my phone:
I topped them up occasionally when both spectranet and Smile dipped.
Around VI, the coverage was good enough for short calls or when I had no other option.
I didn’t use them as my primary line because data can get expensive fast, but they saved me multiple times.
For me, having at least two connections (main + backup) was the real game changer. It meant I rarely had to worry about losing internet right in the middle of an important video meeting even during peak evening hours.
