I was in Ilorin by January, 2026. After doing security work for 75 days I quit.

The payment was shîtty. And the working hours was even worse.

#40k per month. 24 hours shift.

To summarize it: If you go work today you will go back home tomorrow at the exact same time you resumed at work.

Which mean it is both morning and night.

And which mean out of 30 days in a month technically we're working for just and only 15 days.

And that, my friend, is exactly the problem.

We've been brainwashed.

We assumed a 24 hours work and then follow by a 24 hours rest is ideal.

Bûllshît! It is not. I have to question my sanity.

Why am I here?

What exactly is my life purpose?

Assuming I have enough money to feed myself would I be here doing this lousy job?

My answer to the last question was a resounding No! So I decided to quit.

But they didn't want me to go.

Because I was one of the best.

Although it was a Gateman work. I was opening the gate for a big hotel and then scanning and screening customers bags as they comes in.

Sometimes customers dash me money. But no! That is not the kind of life I want.

The manager and the chief security officer had a meeting with me one day and begged me to stay. Even for a month more. They said they would appreciate that.

I felt humane. Like they care. So I agreed.

I quit and came back to Ogbomoso by April.

My decision was to concentrate on music and long distance jogging.

But I was wrong. Hunger was about to kill me. So I changed tactics.

I went straight to our village and spent a week their. Only came back to Ogbomoso city after having at least some food to go by.

Then one of my brothers asked me if I could help him open a liquor shop.

Why not? I said. But I told him the shop will only be open at 12 PM everyday.

12 PM? He got mad and confused.

"We are talking about liquor here brother," he said. "Nigeria people only consume alcohol both early morning and night."

I ignored his rant and told him, "I want happiness. That is the only hours I can offer. People would either adapt to it or I quit."

Eventually he agreed. I setup the shop. And I only opened at exactly 12 PM daily. Sometimes 1 PM.

But I managed to be closing by 9 PM.

Not that we're selling anything great. But at least there's progress.

I will somehow jog in the morning all around and inside Ogbomoso before heading to shop, still on jogging.

Normally my jogging took place at 10 AM, 11 AM and 12 PM.

Mainly because I was putting my body through the afternoon gruelling sun.

I knew one day there will be an opportunity for me to jog, either on a competition or someone somewhere is hosting a cup and some rewards for marathon or ultra marathon runners.

And I know those kind races rarely took place in better weather conditions.

The organizers will definitely try to twist and turn and let the journey begins at odds hours.

Always prepared for the dâmn whatever shîtty situations and conditions life was shoving at you.

Now I am back at Ogbomoso. Handling and managing a liquor shop that only open for business at 12 PM.

And then practicing my long distance jogging art.
