For a long time, I thought international opportunities were meant for people who already had years of experience or lived outside Nigeria.
I'm a Nigerian university student and a Content Strategist who's trying to build an international digital career one step at a time.
Over the past few weeks, I've been doing things that scared me. I built my first portfolio website, completed my HubSpot Content Marketing certification, improved my résumé, started publishing on Substack, and applied for international remote roles through official company career pages instead of relying only on job boards.
Not every application has been successful.
Some jobs turned out to be expired. Others only accepted applicants from certain countries or time zones. At first, that was discouraging.
Then I realized something.
Every rejection was teaching me how international hiring actually works.
Instead of giving up, I started building a database of companies that genuinely hire people from around the world. My goal is simple: spend less time applying blindly and more time applying strategically.
That's why I'm here on Feedcover.
I'm going to document the real journey—the wins, the mistakes, the interviews, the applications, the certifications, and everything I learn along the way.
If you're also trying to build a remote career from Nigeria or anywhere in Africa, I hope my experiences save you time, help you avoid some mistakes, and remind you that progress doesn't always happen overnight.
This is Day One.
Let's see where this journey takes us.
Has anyone here landed an international remote job from Nigeria? I'd genuinely love to hear how your journey started.
