I didn't wake up to a job offer today.

I woke up with a goal.

Find companies that genuinely align with the career I'm trying to build.

So I opened my laptop and started researching.

One company after another.

Some had no openings.

Some only wanted candidates with years of experience.

Some accepted applications only from specific countries.

For a moment, I wondered if finding the right opportunity would always be this difficult.

Then I found Reedsy.

Instead of rushing to click Apply, I did something I've never really done before.

I slowed down.

I read about the company.

Their mission.

Their culture.

Why they exist.

The more I read, the more I realized something:

I wasn't just applying for a role.

I was asking to become part of someone else's mission.

That changed everything.

I rewrote my application instead of sending the same one I've used before.

I connected my journey as a self-published author with the work Reedsy does for writers.

For the first time, my application felt less like a request for a job and more like a conversation about shared purpose.

Will I get a response?

Honestly...

I don't know.

But I know I gave this application my best.

One thing this journey is teaching me is that job searching isn't just about applying.

It's about learning.

Researching.

Improving.

Becoming a little better with every application.

Whether this opportunity works out or not, today reminded me that progress doesn't always look like an offer letter.

Sometimes...

Progress looks like becoming the kind of person you'd want to hire.

And I think that's worth celebrating too.
