Is another weekend give yourself treat with home made Yougurt 😁😋
Now listen you don’t need plenty of milk to make yogurt at home. You can start with a small quantity, especially if you are making it for the first time.
What you need:
- One or two big cups of liquid milk
- One tablespoon of plain, unsweetened yogurt
- A small pot
- A clean cup or container with a cover
For the yogurt, buy plain yogurt without sugar or flavour. You will use a small amount of it to help turn the milk into yogurt.
Step 1: Warm your milk
Pour the milk into a small pot and warm it gently. Don’t allow it to boil or burn.
Once it is warm, take it off the heat and allow it to cool until it is comfortably warm to touch. It should not be hot because very hot milk can spoil the yogurt.
Step 2: Add your yogurt
Put the plain yogurt in a small bowl and add a little of the warm milk. Mix it well first.
Then pour it back into the remaining milk and stir gently.
Step 3: Cover and leave it
Pour the mixture into a clean container and cover it.
Keep it somewhere warm for about 6 to 8 hours. You can wrap the container with a towel or keep it inside a cooler without ice.
Try not to open, shake or stir it while you are waiting.
Step 4: Check your yogurt
After 6 to 8 hours, check your yogurt. It should be thicker and have a slightly sour taste.
If it is still too watery, cover it again and leave it for a few more hours.
Once it has thickened, put it in the fridge to chill. It may become a little thicker after it has been in the fridge.
And that’s your homemade yogurt 😊
You can eat it plain or add honey, sugar, fruits or your preferred flavour after it has chilled.
Start with one or two big cups of milk so you can see how it turns out. Once you are comfortable with the process, you can make a larger quantity next time.
