Have you given up on love because of your past relationship? Are you tired of your current relationship or are you on the verge of separation or divorce?

So many relationships today are suffering. Breakups, separation, and divorce seem to be a trend. Instead of relationships growing in love and passion, they let the burning flame die down without making any efforts to rebuild it.

Most people forget that just loving someone is not enough to keep a relationship happy and strong, it requires more than love to keep a bond stronger. Both parties need to put in so much work to keep the relationship going just like at the very beginning of the relationship.

As you are reading this you might say “I put in a lot of effort in my last relationship but it didn’t work out”. If that is the case, just know that you are not the only one who feels this way, they are many others who have given up on love because they felt their efforts weren’t appreciated.

Take a deep breath! You can still love again. Here are six steps to help you love again:

1. Reflecting on Past for Emotional Healing

Letting go of past hurts prevents emotional damage, stagnation, depression, low self-esteem, and missed opportunities. Get rid of that emotional pain that demoralizes you and makes you feel worthless. Focus on yourself, and let the pain you have experienced shape you to become a better person. Be grateful for where you are today. It’s the present that matters not the past. Don’t let your past have control over you, be in control of it.

The bitter truth is that hurt is inevitable, but what matters is the way we handle it when it happens. So show yourself some kindness and compassion. You don’t have to wait for an apology from whoever must have hurt you before you let go, that will make it hard for you to let go of your past. Remember, our past is always there for us to learn from it and grow. Don’t let your past hold you back from experiencing real love again.

2. Discovering and Supporting Interests

The way the human body is naturally wired is amazing. As humans, our interests tend to evolve with each passing year, the things we like today might change in the next few months or years. So, what would you do in such a situation? Would you hate yourself for finding a new interest? I bet not!

Knowing your interests and strengths fosters emotional development and clarity in life choices. The importance of knowing your interest can not be overemphasized. If you don’t know what your interest is, how do you want to deal with that of your partner?

The same thing can apply to the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. Their interests can evolve, would you despise them because of that? Or would that be the time for you to say this is not the person I got married to and that they’ve changed? It’ll be wrong to do that because it’s not the person that changes but the interests. By the time you keep questioning why they don’t like the things they use to like, it results in arguments, misunderstanding, and many other negative things. Supporting your partner’s evolving interests builds understanding and reduces misunderstandings, enhancing relationship harmony.

3. Clarifying Priorities for Relationship Success

Life can be so challenging, and when it becomes so challenging you get to prioritize other things you didn’t use to such as paying off mortgages, insurance, health care, school fees, and many others. I’m not against you taking care of your finances, but does that stop you from falling in love again? Knowing your priorities before going into a relationship can help you manage your time, and build a strong foundation for a long-term relationship.
Understanding personal priorities help you recognize what you’re looking for in your partner, and what you want to achieve in the relationship.

Knowing your priorities will also enable you to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts because you must have communicated clearly with your partner your boundaries and expectations. It can help you keep focus in whatever activities you engage in. This can increase your productivity and you’ll be able to achieve more in less period. Having a clear understanding of your priorities can also improve your decision-making. Clear priorities help assess compatibility and ensure balanced focus on personal and shared goals.

Set your priorities, this can help you have a healthy and successful relationship.

4. Defining Relationship Desires and Timing

The truth is that not everyone who is in a relationship is actually ready for it and this is one main reason marriages and relationships break easily. No matter your gender, you are allowed to create a picture of the kind of man or woman you want in your life. Write down what they should look like, their personalities, interests, and values.

Knowing what you want in a partner and when you want to meet them prevents indecisiveness and discouragement. Creating a mental picture of ideal qualities guides you toward suitable matches and healthier relationships.

5. Eliminating Bad Habits for Relationship Health

Nobody wants to spend the rest of their life with someone who has bad habits and who is not ready to make adjustments. Bad habits can cause distrust, arguments, health issues, and emotional distress.

Working on self-improvement and adjusting habits increases chances of finding love and maintaining healthy relationships.

6. Rebuilding Trust in Relationships

Trust is one of the strongest foundations to build a relationship. If you want to get into a relationship with anyone or you are already in a relationship but you have trust issues, it’s time to work on it. Regardless of what your experience is, you can develop trust again.

Trust issues lead to conflict, insecurity, anxiety, and loneliness. Learning to trust again deepens self-awareness, fosters openness, strengthens emotional bonds, keeps you committed, and helps you acknowledge your mistakes and take responsibility for them.

In summary, learning to love again is very possible! Don’t believe those who tell you, true love, doesn’t exist; it does exist. If you allow your subconscious to think real love doesn’t exist, then you’ll meet people who will show you that real love doesn’t exist. But if you feed your subconscious with the positivity of genuine love, then you’ll find someone who will love you without hypocrisy.

Remember, your perspective of love matters, make it a positive one. Learn to love again by learning from your past, knowing your interests, knowing your priorities, knowing what you want and when you want it, getting rid of bad habits, and learning to trust again. Applying these six valuable steps can help you learn how to love again.
