When your phone storage is almost full, you may struggle to download files, save new photos or install updates. The first step is to check what takes up the most room. Open your phone’s storage settings and look at the space used by videos, photos, apps and downloads. This helps you start where you can free the most space.
Large videos are often a good place to begin. Review the ones you no longer need. If a video matters to you, save a copy to a computer, drive or trusted cloud account and check that you can open the copy before deleting it from your phone. Next, look in your downloads folder. Old forms, videos and files you saved for one-time use may still be there.
Review your apps as well. If you have not used an app in months, check whether you still need it. Some phones let you remove an app while keeping its data, but read what the option does before you tap it. Your file app may also help you find duplicate photos or other files. Check each item before deleting it, especially if you plan to remove several at once.
You do not need to clear everything in one day. Start with the largest files, protect what matters and remove only what you no longer need. Check your storage once a month so you have room for new photos, useful apps and phone updates.
