You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” — Matthew 17:20

I start with this verse because it is essential to understanding the weight of this story.

Years ago, I traveled to Singapore. I was excited and curious, as it was my first time in Asia and I had heard wonderful things about the country. My journey included a 12-hour layover in Ankara, Turkey. The airport there was beautiful, and I spent my time relaxing and soaking in the atmosphere.
While waiting, I met a group of four or five other Nigerians who were also heading to Singapore. We chatted, discussed our expectations for the trip, and exchanged contacts.

When we finally boarded the plane, I felt a mix of excitement and anxiety, but I eventually fell asleep.

We arrived in Singapore early in the morning. Everything was bright and beautiful. Even now, I can still remember the distinct scent of the air. As we walked toward the immigration counters, I felt relaxed—after all, I had no reason to be nervous. But then, things took an interesting turn.

I noticed the first Nigerian from our group reach the stand. After a brief interaction, he was led away by officials. Then the second person was led away. Then the third. My heart began to race.

What is going on? I wondered.

The man standing directly in front of me panicked. Before I could even blink, he stepped out of our queue to try his luck in a different lane, leaving me next in line. My heart was pounding, and I debated following him. I was confused and nervous, but at that moment, I decided to just stay where I was.
Just as I was about to be called, the immigration officer at the counter was replaced. A new lady took her seat, looked at me, and signaled for the "Next" person.

I walked up and handed her my passport. She checked it, stamped it, and handed it back. I stood there for a second, fully expecting to be escorted away like the others. Instead, she simply looked at me and said I was free to go.

As I walked toward the exit, I looked over at the man who had switched lanes. He was watching me, looking absolutely amazed. I gave him a small smile and a wave, and I walked through.

Whenever I remember that day, it serves as a powerful reminder: God is truly alive for those who put their trust in Him.
