A question many patients find uncomfortable is: “Has your partner been tested and treated too?”
Some people feel this question is too personal, but there is an important reason healthcare professionals ask it.
A patient once became upset when I asked whether her partner had received treatment after her PID episode. She felt it was invasive, but I explained that if an untreated partner is still carrying the infection, it can be passed back again — causing the same problem to return.
Three months later, she returned with the same symptoms. Her partner had not been treated.
The lesson was clear: treating one person alone may not always solve the problem.
Partner evaluation and treatment can be an important part of preventing recurrent infections.
Many people continue to experience repeated symptoms because they were never told this important piece of information.

Your health deserves the right information, not just repeated treatments.
