Story Summary
Unlike most fantasy stories that focus on the big quest to defeat the Demon King, Frieren starts after that quest is done. Frieren is an elf mage who lived with a group of heroes and helped defeat the Demon King. Because elves live for hundreds of years, she doesn’t initially understand the short lives and emotions of her human friends.
After her friend Himmel dies of old age, she decides to go on a new journey not to fight a new evil, but to learn more about humans, life, relationships, and herself. Along the way she travels with younger companions like Fern (a young mage) and Stark (a warrior) while growing emotionally and discovering more about her world.
