We all sleep; we all dream; we all have a picture for a future painted in our minds. We then believe this dream will become a reality. There is a famous adage that says, ‘dream big’.
Dr Martin Luther King Jr is a human right activist and the leader of the American Civil Right Movement. He delivered his speech titled “I Have a Dream” delivered on August 28, 1963, in Washington DC. There he described his dreams for freedom and equality arising from a land that is known for slavery and hatred. Therefore, we can confidently say that his dream was realized. He did not sit back and watch it become a reality; he engaged in peaceful protest and led the Civil Right Movement in the quest for the realization of his dream.
We dream a lot but most of us do not get to see it manifest. I thought about this one day and I wondered why. Most of the people in the world today including those who are now part of history but never made history had one dream or more. Let me tell you that many people are still dreaming, still sleeping away the realization of these dreams. By sleeping, I do not mean physically sleeping but psychologically sleeping. A lot of people have died dreaming. They never lived to see the fulfillment of their dreams.
It is time to wake up to reality; it is time to think about the steps towards achievement, work and take deliberate actions that will lead to the fulfillment of these dreams.
There is a price to pay. The price maybe expensive, time taking, difficult and also humiliating but then the goal should be your focus. The success should be your target as you keep striving to progress towards the goal. Whatever you have to do to achieve success does not matter; as long as it conforms to societal and moral laws. If success is easy, no one will celebrate it; there would be no reward for it. Be determined and focused on the goal. At the end you will be celebrated.
