Last year, I found a fairly priced apartment that looked perfect during the day. The landlord was friendly, and everything seemed fine, so I almost paid immediately.
A friend advised me to visit the area again at night. I did.
The experience was completely different. There was constant noise from nearby bars, heavy traffic, and frequent power outages. Residents also mentioned security concerns after dark.
I decided not to rent the apartment.
A week later, I found another place that cost a little more but offered a much better living environment.
What I learned:
Visit the neighbourhood during the day and at night.
Talk to at least two residents before paying.
Don't let low rent alone determine your decision.
That one extra visit saved me from making an expensive mistake.
