Lately I’ve been asking myself: did we forget how to rave?

Not party. Not turn up for content. Not shout lyrics for the camera. I mean really rave.

For me, raving isn’t about knowing the song or even liking the DJ. It’s that moment when you stop performing and just… give in. When your body moves before your brain does. When nobody’s trying to look cool, impress anyone, or capture the night for later. You’re just present.

Somewhere between Lagos nightlife, endless phone recordings, VIP sections, and “let’s just vibe small”, it feels like we replaced that raw energy with structure. Everyone is cautious. Everyone is watching themselves. Everyone is halfway elsewhere.

The best rave moments I’ve had weren’t loud because of hype — they were loud because people let go. No expectations. No agenda. Just sound, sweat, and shared madness.

And maybe that’s the difference between partying and raving:
Partying is about having fun.
Raving is about losing yourself.

Sometimes you don’t need a bigger DJ or better lights. You just need to remember how to show up fully — no performance, no fear, no phone in the air.

So yeah… maybe we didn’t lose it forever.
Maybe we just need to start again, like we never left.
