DAY 6 — EARLY DETECTION IS NOT WITCHCRAFT
Yesterday, we fired Google from the position of family doctor.
Today, let us talk about early detection.
You see, we Nigerians sometimes have a funny relationship with hospitals.
We wait.
We pray.
We wait some more.
Then, when the matter becomes serious, we say, “Let us go and check it.”
My dear, check it when? When it has packed its bags and goodies?
Some cancers can be found early through appropriate screening or by investigating unusual symptoms promptly. Finding cancer early can make treatment easier and may improve the chances of successful treatment.
And no, screening does not mean you have cancer.
It means you are checking.
Just like you check your bank account before somebody says, “Transfer failed.” 😂
So, know which screenings are appropriate for you, based on your age, sex, family history and other risk factors.
Early detection is not to be fear. It is being proactive.
Till I write to you tomorrow, let keep our body healthy and be safe.
