“The only person coming to save you is the version of yourself that’s tired of your current situation”

I came across the quote above on someone’s WhatsApp status, and it spoke nothing but the truth. The life you envision for yourself will most likely be built by the version of you that is tired of being mediocre. That feeling of being broke, of being far from where you want to be, even the resentment you sometimes feel toward your current situation, can be redirected into effort. It can become fuel. I really hope it all works out for us.
Today started with leftover energy from yesterday. It was a workday, and I had to leave earlier than usual because I planned to get a new battery for my laptop, which I eventually did. Another unplanned expense. I got to work early as well and spent most of the day clearing backlogs. I completed all my madrasah classes and tests, continued learning MySQL, and practiced what I’ve been studying.
I fasted today, even though it wasn’t planned. The last meal I had was yesterday evening, and somehow I just continued without eating. By the time I was heading home tonight, I felt lightheaded at some point. I hadn’t eaten in over twenty-four hours and had been doing mentally demanding work all day. I eventually ate properly tonight, and as I’m typing this, my stomach still feels full and bloated.
The highlight of the day was closing my second client of the year while walking home this evening. That moment brought a lot of relief, especially considering the expenses I had today.
Things I’m grateful for today:
Food. I indulged in some snacks I haven’t had in a while because of my health, and I genuinely enjoyed them. It felt special.
Good health. The chest discomfort I’d been feeling earlier stopped, and eating tonight came without pain.
Qur’an. The one companion that carries me through the struggles of each day.
That’s all for today. See you tomorrow, bi idhnillāh.
