📚 WEEK 2: BUSINESS MODELS — UNDERSTAND HOW MONEY MOVES
Yesterday, Emeka asked himself a serious question:
“If I stop working, will the money stop coming?”
Today, he decides to go deeper.
It is 6:25 a.m. in Lagos.
Emeka sits with his notebook and writes:
TIME → WORK → MONEY
Then underneath it, he adds another line:
PEOPLE → SYSTEMS → TECHNOLOGY → LEVERAGE
He looks at it for a while.
“Hmm… maybe the real question no be how hard I fit work. Maybe na how I fit make my effort go further.”
That is when he begins to understand LEVERAGE.
🚀 WHAT IS BUSINESS LEVERAGE?
Leverage simply means using available resources to achieve more output without relying entirely on your own effort.
Think about it.
One person can cook and serve 20 customers.
But what if that person trains 3 people, creates standard recipes, introduces a proper ordering system and uses technology to manage orders?
The owner is no longer doing everything personally.
The business has gained leverage.
👥 PEOPLE CAN CREATE LEVERAGE
You don't have to personally perform every task in your business.
A trained team can help you:
• Serve more customers
• Handle routine tasks
• Improve delivery
• Save your time
• Increase capacity
The goal is not simply to employ people.
The goal is to build a team that can produce value effectively.
⚙️ SYSTEMS CAN CREATE LEVERAGE
Imagine a business where the owner must explain the same process every single day.
That business depends heavily on the owner.
But if the process is documented:
STEP 1 → STEP 2 → STEP 3 → STEP 4
someone else can follow it.
That is a system.
A good system turns repeated knowledge into a repeatable process.
💻 TECHNOLOGY CAN CREATE LEVERAGE
Technology can help with things like:
• Customer communication
• Record keeping
• Payments
• Marketing
• Order management
• Scheduling
• Data analysis
Technology does not replace good business thinking.
It helps good processes work more efficiently.
📦 PRODUCTS CAN CREATE LEVERAGE
Your time is limited.
But a well-designed product can potentially be delivered to many customers without you personally recreating the entire product every time.
That is another form of leverage.
🧠 EMeka'S BIG REALISATION
Emeka remembers the business owner from Day 7 who was cooking, serving customers, buying supplies, answering calls, doing deliveries and cleaning.
The owner was BUSY.
But being busy does not automatically mean the business is becoming more productive.
Emeka writes:
HARD WORK + NO LEVERAGE = LIMITED CAPACITY
Then:
SYSTEM + PEOPLE + TECHNOLOGY + PROCESS = GREATER CAPACITY
He smiles.
Now he understands something important:
LEVERAGE IS NOT ABOUT DOING LESS.
It is about making your TIME, KNOWLEDGE, PEOPLE, SYSTEMS AND RESOURCES WORK TOGETHER so you can create more value.
🔥 YOUR DAY 10 BUSINESS CHALLENGE
Look at your own business idea.
Ask yourself:
1️⃣ What am I doing repeatedly?
2️⃣ Can I create a system for it?
3️⃣ What task can another trained person handle?
4️⃣ What technology can make the process easier?
5️⃣ What knowledge can I turn into a repeatable process?
6️⃣ What product or service can I deliver repeatedly?
7️⃣ How can I serve more customers without simply adding more hours to my day?
Don't just ask:
“How can I work harder?”
Start asking:
“HOW CAN I CREATE LEVERAGE?”
📌 REMEMBER THIS:
TIME → EFFORT → SYSTEM → LEVERAGE → GROWTH
Your personal effort is valuable.
But your business becomes more powerful when your effort can be multiplied through people, systems, technology, products and processes.
