The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has sharply lowered its ex‑depot petrol price as it seeks to outpace competitors such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other fuel marketers in Nigeria.
Market data from Petroleumprice.ng on Friday revealed that the refinery’s ex‑depot (gantry) price for Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) has been cut to ₦699 per litre, down from ₦828 per litre — reflecting a reduction of around ₦129 per litre.
This fresh revision marks approximately the 20th pricing update by the refinery in 2025 and comes as Nigeria prepares for heightened fuel demand during the festive season.
Recent weeks have also seen NNPCL and several private filling stations implement at least two petrol price drops, resulting in retail prices ranging roughly between ₦915 and ₦937 per litre in Abuja.
Aliko Dangote, the chairman of Dangote Industries and architect of the refinery project, has publicly reiterated the company’s commitment to maintaining competitive pricing while increasing output and competing directly with imported fuel supplies.
