The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) had another positive session on Tuesday, with the Customs Street market rising by 0.46%. This strong appetite for Nigerian equities drove the market capitalization up by N468 billion, from N101.807 trillion to N102.275 trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) rose 732.86 points to 159,951.08.
A total of 65 stocks gained during the session, while 21 stocks fell, signaling a bullish market and positive investor sentiment.
Top gainers included:
- Meyer (+10%) to N14.30
- Jaiz Bank (+10%) to N5.28
- ABC Transport (+9.98%) to N4.96
- Austin Laz (+9.94%) to N5.64
Meanwhile, the biggest losers were:
- Aluminium Extrusion (-9.96%) to N21.70
- Learn Africa (-9.16%) to N5.95
- Oando (-7.69%) to N40.80
- UBA (-6.22%) to N43.00
- Access Holdings (-6%) to N23.50
In terms of activity, Linkage Assurance led with 51.6 million shares traded (N93.1 million), followed by Sterling Holdings (49.2 million shares, N368.5 million) and Access Holdings (48.7 million shares, N1.2 billion). Other active stocks included Mutual Benefits and Regency Alliance.
Across the market, a total of 759 million shares worth N19.9 billion were traded in 54,212 deals. Compared to Monday, both the volume and value of trades rose by 9.1% and 6.99%, respectively, even though the number of deals fell slightly by 4.27%.
The session reflects continued investor confidence and a strong start to the week for Nigerian stocks.
