Mari sits on her bed in deep thought. She is 27 and wonders when the right man will seek for her hand in marriage. She has had suitors before but none of them suits her taste. She noticed that none of them connects with her. She knows that marriage is not a joke and should not be taken for granted. She has watched failed marriages among her relative and even her parents were victims too. She do not desire to be a victim; this begins by choosing right. Mari reflects on her previous meeting with a man she would have been married to.

He came into her church one day as a new minister and she did not quite care that a new minister was around but she had noticed that they did some changes. Some old ministers whom she knew had left and the new ones took over. When she arrived home she recalled that she had been led to read the book of Esther before she went to church which she did but she did not notice anything special. She wonders what God is tying to say to her. At home while she prepared to light out, God begins to make her realize that one of the new pastors stared at her in the church. She still didn’t care. So, God made her realize where the Story of Esther plays out in her life. As she comes to this realization she then knew that something was fishy. She realized that it was exactly the 10th month of the year as it was for Esther, her turn to meet the king after 12 month of cosmetic treatment. That same period she had gotten a cream that suits her skin quite well and that made her skin smooth and glow within three days of application. Was this her own turn to meet her husband? She thought but with all the signs she realized that yes is the answer. She decided to test and see. It may not be her he looked at but someone who sat behind her or beside her.

After a few Sundays and weekly service she observed that truly she was the one he looked at. She tested by sitting at different places during each service. Front, back, middle, left, right of the auditorium; yet, he still spotted her and stared. Then came the day he traced where she lived and went there on a Sunday evening; she saw him standing some steps from her house and then it became crystal clear to her.

She didn’t meet him but expected him to approach her which he did not. He seem to enjoy staring at her. Then one day she went to see him with the excuse that he should pray for her sick Aunt instead of following the protocol to meet the pastor in charge. She expected him to use this to ask for her phone number, but he never did and he never said anything.
