If you have ever traveled by road in Nigeria, then you will understand that motor parks are always full of life and activity. A Nigerian motor park is not just a place where vehicles pick up passengers; it is a busy environment where many different things happen at the same time. From loud conductors calling passengers to food sellers moving around, there is always something interesting to notice.
One of the most common things you will see at a motor park is conductors shouting different destinations. They call out places loudly like “Owerri! Owerri! Last seat!” or “Abuja direct!” as they try to attract passengers to fill up the vehicle quickly.
Another thing you will notice is hawkers selling different items. These sellers move from one vehicle to another, selling things like snacks, bottled water, fruits, soft drinks, and sometimes even bread or meat pies. Some passengers buy food for the journey while others just watch the sellers move around quickly before the bus leaves.
You will also see different kinds of passengers. Some people are calm and waiting patiently for the vehicle to get full, while others are always asking questions like “When will this bus move?” or “Is this one going direct?” Everyone just wants to reach their destination on time.
Another common sight is drivers and conductors negotiating transport fares with passengers. Sometimes the price may change depending on the distance, fuel cost, or the number of passengers available.
In many motor parks, you will also notice loaders helping to arrange luggage on top of buses or inside the vehicle. They help passengers carry bags, boxes, and sometimes even large items.
Of course, Nigerian motor parks also have their funny and dramatic moments. You may see passengers arguing over seats, someone rushing because the bus is about to move.
