BEYOND THE NEED; THE WALK

Genesis 12:4,7 So Abram went, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. The LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him. (NIV)

In your relationship with God He looks beyond your need to your walk with Him.

Abraham was seventy-five years old when God promised him a son by Sarah but at ninety-nine years he still had no son by Sarah. But he didn't stop serving God, he didn't allow that to deteriorate his walk with God.

Genesis 17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.

God prioritise your walk with Him over your needs. He treasure your relationship with Him above all else. His promise of a son to Abraham came to pass after twenty-five years. During those twenty-five years Abraham was not discouraged or gave up on God. He was not serving God for a son, he had a relationship with God. It was a walk with God through life.

Genesis 21:5 Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.

When Isaac grew up to be a boy God told Abraham to sacrifice him as an offering. He obeyed and went without question, resistance or grumble. Why? Was it easy for him? No! It was because he treasured his walk and relationship with God above all else.

Genesis 22:2 Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, whom you love —Isaac —and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you."

Some serve God for things and needs. That shouldn't be you. God is bigger than that and He expects you to be too. He treasures a walk with you through this world, enjoying a real relationship with you beyond your needs and wants; loving, serving and worshipping Him beyond your needs.

PRAYER

Dear Father I reaffirm my commitment to love and worship you beyond my needs. I give deliberate attention to my walk with you; loving and serving you beyond my needs, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
