Still see people asking "Bolt Food or Chowdeck?" Bolt Food hasn't existed in Nigeria since 2023. Here's what's actually on your phone right now.
If you're comparing food delivery apps in Lagos, you might be working off outdated information. Bolt Food shut down its Nigerian operations in December 2023 — it's not coming back, and several "top delivery apps" lists floating around online (some with current-looking dates) still list it as an option. Jumia Food exited around the same time. Neither exists in Nigeria anymore.
So what's actually delivering in Lagos right now?
Chowdeck: Nigerian-built, the dominant player. Widest coverage across Lagos, plus Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, and more. Known for reliability and a broad mix of local and international restaurants.
Glovo: The main international competitor still standing in Nigeria. Strong coverage in Lagos Mainland, Ikeja, Lekki, and Ikorodu, plus it delivers more than food (groceries, packages, etc.).
Smaller players like Food Court and HeyFound worth knowing about, but coverage is patchier — good as backups, not your main app.
If your delivery app of choice is anything other than Chowdeck or Glovo, it's worth checking that it's actually still operating before you rely on it for an event or a hungry moment.
