If you are in Nigeria and you are trying to sort travel insurance for a visa or just travel in general, these are the ones people around me keep mentioning.

AXA Mansard Insurance
This one is everywhere, honestly. If you are doing a Schengen or UK visa from Lagos, you will almost definitely hear AXA Mansard first. People just use it because embassies accept it, and it is easy to get.

Leadway Assurance
This one I see a lot with people working or students travelling out. It is like that familiar Nigerian insurance name you don’t stress too much about.

AIICO Insurance
Old name in Nigerian insurance. If you ask people who have travelled more than once, AIICO usually comes up at some point.

Custodian and Allied Insurance
Mostly corporate people use this one. If your office is arranging your trip, there is a good chance this is what they will give you.

Cornerstone Insurance Plc
This one is usually just for meeting visa requirements. Simple, no long story.

To be honest, most people here in Nigeria only think about travel insurance because of embassy requirements, not because they expect anything serious to happen.

Have you ever actually used any of these Nigerian travel insurance companies outside the country, and did it help you, or was it just paperwork for visa approval?
