“Emeka, what is wrong with you?”

Nene’s voice echoed through the apartment as she stood with both hands on her waist.
Emeka looked up from the dining table calmly.
“What did I do again?”

“That’s exactly the problem!” she snapped.
“You don’t do anything!”

She threw his neatly folded shirt on the couch.
“No lipstick stains. No strange perfume. No suspicious calls. I checked your phone — nothing! Your pockets — nothing! Your car — clean! Emeka, are you even a real man?”

Emeka blinked slowly.
“Nene… you’re angry because I’m faithful?”

But Nene was already pacing around the sitting room dramatically.
Every weekend, when she sat with her friends — Nike and Lola — they always had “interesting” stories.

“Girl, I caught Kunle texting one girl by 2am!”
“My husband came home smelling like beer yesterday!”
“Men will humble you!”

Everybody would laugh, gist, complain, analyze screenshots and voice notes.

But Nene?
Nothing.

Her husband came home early.
Answered video calls immediately.
Prayed with her.
Dropped money for groceries.
Never raised his voice.

To her, marriage was becoming “too quiet.”

One evening, after another heated complaint, Emeka finally spoke.

“You know something scary, Nene?” he said softly.
“Some women are praying for the exact peace you are complaining about.”

That sentence silenced the room.

For the first time, Nene looked at him carefully.

No noise.
No drama.
No heartbreak.💔
Just peace.

And somehow… she had mistaken peace for weakness.

Emeka smiled faintly and carried his laptop.

“You wanted a ‘real man,’ Nene.
But maybe you’ve spent too much time around broken stories that healthy love now looks boring to you.”

That night, Nene couldn’t sleep.

She remembered how Lola cried secretly after discovering her husband had another child outside marriage.
How Nike covered bruises with makeup while still joking in public.

Suddenly, the “boring” marriage didn’t look boring anymore.
It looked safe.
It looked rare.
It looked like answered prayers. ❤️

Sometimes, the greatest blessing is not excitement…
It is peace.
