Senior APC leaders are warning that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s moves in Rivers State could force a showdown with President Tinubu. One NWC member even suggested the President might have to choose between the party and Wike.

Wike’s recent declaration that Governor Fubara won’t return for a second term has upset loyalists, while strategists argue the APC can’t risk letting a non-member minister sabotage their plans ahead of 2027.

Some insiders say Wike is now politically isolated, outpaced by Fubara’s early alignment with the APC and calls for his removal are quietly circulating.
