Anthony Joshua back in the gym less than three weeks after surviving that devastating car crash. Two of his closest team members, his trainer Kevin Latif Ayodele and strength coach Sina Ghami, didn’t make it. Joshua himself walked away with minor injuries, but the weight of that loss must be impossible to measure.
He returned to the UK with the remains of his friends and attended their funeral prayers, a quiet, somber moment that few of us can truly imagine. Since then, he’s stayed largely silent—except for the tribute posts to honor them. And now, seeing him back in training, it hits differently. Light sparring, strength routines, spinning, swimming… he calls it “mental strength therapy.” Watching him move again after such a tragedy, I can’t help but feel the raw determination it takes just to show up.
It’s a reminder that resilience isn’t always obvious. Sometimes it’s showing up when the world has broken around you. There’s no word yet on when he’ll fight again, but for me, just seeing Joshua step back into the gym is proof that strength comes in many forms. It’s not just about winning in the ring, it’s about finding the courage to keep going, even when everything inside you wants to stop.
