Just me conquering my feedcover challenge of the day 😊

Here are 10 things worth knowing before visiting Enugu:
1. Okpara Square Is The Heart Of The City
If you’re in Enugu long enough, you’ll eventually find yourself at Okpara Square. It’s where government events happen, where people work out, where businesses gather, where food vendors set up, and where people come to socialize. On Saturdays especially, the place comes alive.

2. Enugu Takes Nightlife Seriously
For a city that looks calm during the day, Enugu knows how to have fun.
From lounges and karaoke spots to nightclubs, cinemas, local joints, and restaurants, there is no shortage of places to hang out. Just have your money in your pocket.

3. We take street food seriously
One thing Enugu people don’t joke with is food. For breakfast you can have Okpa and a cold drink. For lunch you can get Abacha, beans and plantain, fio fio, roasted yam, and plenty of other options. You can miss many things in Enugu, but don’t leave without trying fresh Okpa.

4. Public Transport Basically closes at 9pm
This catches a lot of visitors by surprise. Once it’s approaching 9pm, finding public transport becomes much harder. Many keke riders are already heading home. If you’re arriving in Enugu and don’t have a car or someone picking you up, try to get into town before night falls.

5. Enugu Has Its Own Airline
Yes, you read that correctly. Enugu Air is operational and has become a source of pride for many residents.
Not every Nigerian state can say that 😌

6. Keke “Drop” is expensive
In Enugu, asking a keke rider for a drop means the tricycle is carrying only you. It’s quite convenient but also expensive. A keke driver can charge you 3000-8000 naira for a short distance

7. Be aware of your environment
Like every major city, there are areas where visitors should stay alert and avoid unnecessary confrontations.
Being respectful, aware of your surroundings, and avoiding trouble goes a long way.

8. House Hunting Can Be Stressful and Expensive
Ask any Enugu resident. Rent is one thing. Agent fees are another thing entirely. Sometimes you’ll feel like you’re paying rent twice. If you’re moving to Enugu, take your time and ask plenty of questions before making payments.

9. Enugu Is Relatively Safe
Compared to many major cities, Enugu has a reputation for being peaceful and relatively safe. Of course, basic safety precautions still apply because, well, this is still Nigeria.

10. Water Can Be A Serious Issue
This is one thing many newcomers don’t expect. Some houses have reliable water supply. Others depend heavily on purchased water. Before renting any apartment, ask questions about water access.

Enugu is one of those cities that grows on you. It’s calmer than Lagos, lively enough to keep things interesting, and has a food culture that deserves more attention than it gets.

I’m looking forward to reading about your city 👀
